Punjab Government and BCG Collaborate with MITCA to Drive “Brand Mohali” Vision

The Government of Punjab, in collaboration with the Punjab Development Commission (PDC) and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), has kicked off the “Brand Mohali” initiative to position Mohali as a globally competitive IT and innovation hub.

A high-impact strategy meeting was held on 27th October 2025 at Netsmartz Towers, Mohali IT City, led by Mr. Vineet Vijayavargia, Managing Director & Partner, BCG, and chaired by Mr. Manipal Dhariwal, President, Mohali IT City IT Companies Association (MITCA) and CEO & Co-Founder of Netsmartz Group.

Mr. Dhariwal outlined key milestones achieved over the past year — including the Amnesty Policy 2025, launch of CTU Bus 38-B, establishment of a dedicated police post, PSPCL call centre, installation of a 31.5 MVA transformer, and tenders for streetlights, roads, and landscaping. He also highlighted ongoing GCC and Data Centre Policy formulation and shared strategic recommendations to strengthen Brand Mohali through data infrastructure, global connectivity, and diaspora-led branding.

Mr. Vijayavargia presented BCG’s phased roadmap:

  • Short-term: Resolve policy and infrastructure gaps.
  • Medium-term: Create 50,000 white-collar jobs within 18 months.
  • Long-term: Establish Mohali as a globally recognized digital hub anchored by its airport.

Mr. Jitin Talwar, Vice President, proposed “Mission AI for Punjab” to train 1 million individuals in AI, drones, and agritech, while Mr. Satinder S. Bedi, General Secretary, emphasized improving international air connectivity through direct flights and 24/7 operations at SBS International Airport.

The meeting also addressed policy modernization, land availability, and turnkey GCC development models.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Dhariwal urged collective action to transform Brand Mohali into a world-class IT and GCC destination, stating that “the time to act is now.”
