The Mohali IT City IT Companies Association held a meeting with Mr. Harpreet Singh Oberoi, Superintending Engineer, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), on 22nd August 2025 to discuss recurring power supply issues affecting companies operating in Mohali IT City.
The meeting also included Er. Abhishek Saini, Sub-Divisional Officer, and Mr. Parvinder Singh, Junior Engineer, PSPCL, who recorded members’ concerns for prompt action.
Mr. Manipal Dhariwal, President of the Association and CEO & Co-Founder of Netsmartz Group, highlighted the frequent outages compelling companies to depend on diesel generators, and urged immediate corrective measures. He also proposed deploying PSPCL staff at feeder points to ensure quicker response during outages.
Member companies shared key issues, including erratic power supply, delayed restoration, infrastructure gaps, and inadequate on-ground support.
Responding to these, Mr. Oberoi announced several action steps:
- Infrastructure upgrade: A new 320 MVA capacity is being planned to strengthen power reliability.
- Transformer enhancement: The existing 20 MVA unit will be upgraded to 31.5 MVA by October 2025.
- Capital investment: ₹200 crore allocated for regional infrastructure improvement.
- Rapid response: PSPCL staff to be deployed at feeder points for faster restoration.
- Continuity assurance: No disconnection of power connections under any circumstances.
Mr. Dhariwal appreciated PSPCL’s commitment and stressed continued collaboration to ensure a stable and uninterrupted power ecosystem — vital for positioning Mohali IT City as a leading IT and innovation hub.
